The purpose of a policy brief is to engage and convince a targeted audience that the policy analysis is credible and relevant for an upcoming discussion and/or decision on a specific aspect of homelessness. The policy brief should address for following questions:
What is the status of homelessness according to the homeless population, advocates, researchers, practitioners, and policy makers?
What social policy (e.g., city, state, or federal policy) addresses the issue? Who gains? Who loses?
What organizations are addressing the issue?
What type of community engagement is occurring (or has occurred) around
homelessness?
Length of policy brief: 2-3 pages (750 words maximum), not including reference page or cover page.
Format:
b. Double spaced, 12-point font, with standard 1-inch margins.
Contain a reference page using APA formatting guidelines, that includes:
At least five peer reviewed professional journals/policy briefs and textbook
references (i.e., Jansson, 2016, McNutt & Hoefer, 2016, Stone, 2012).
At least one article from a local newspapers or recent periodical.
