What to write about:Who is this person?What where their major contributions to the field of astronomy?Pick one of the contributions to go into depth onWhat did they contribute to astronomy and how did they go about showing it? That is, what was their hypothesis and what experiment(s)/observation(s) did they make to support their hypothesis.How did their contributions change the field of astronomy?What intrigues you about their contribution?Provide a bibliography of the sources you used. You must have at least 3 sources.I suggest references from the space agency websites themselves, documentation about the missions from university/research lab websites affiliated with the missions (e.g., Caltech, Johns Hopkins University – Applied Physics Laboratory, etc.), university/research group press releases, and so on. Primary sources are the best, and those proximate to the primary sources are great too.Examples of Potential People:Joceyln Bell, Neils Bohr, Ludwig Boltzmann, Tycho Brahe, Annie Jump Cannon, Nicolaus Copernicus, Marie Curie, Frank Drake, Albert Einstein, Galileo Galilei, Edmund Halley, Edwin Hubble, Johannes Kepler, Henrietta Leavitt, Issac Newton, Cecilia Payne, Ptolemy, Carl Sagan, Vera Rubin, Jill Tarter, and so many moreYou can write your essay with any editor you want. While I do not grade on grammar, flow, and style, I encourage you to follow all normal writing guidelines. This is a great opportunity to practice writing about science. Given my large number of students, I may not be able to detailed feedback on submitted essays, but I will try my best to give you feedback.
